  This book was required for a class which is why I bought it, and why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. Also, it does contain some good information. The reason I am giving such a low score is it is BORING. It is one of those textbooks that is just plain hard to read because it is so dry. The font is too small. There is nothing to break up the information in interesting ways. And there is way too many quotes from other authors. Almost every other sentence is a quote from someone else's book.Buy it if required.   Its only redeeming quality is...

  the fact that it does offer some useful information, but not enough to give it more than two stars since most of what's contained in the book can easily be found on the Internet. (I also find it odd that three out of four of the five-star reviews are actually seller reviews and have nothing to do with the text.)This book is incredibly boring at times, not because of the information but the ways in which it is presented. Quotes and citations frequently succeed each other to form entire paragraphs, so much so that one wonders how much of the book the authors actually wrote themselves. If a student were to write in this fashion, they'd surely receive an F. Other times, the information is questionable or inaccurate as, instead of admitting difficulty in ascertaining the behaviors of certain cultures, the authors pass off their (or someone else's) speculation as fact, or get something wrong entirely.   Instructor Edition

  I got the book right when I was expecting. The book had black electrical tape covered by packing tape at the top of the book. The entire back cover of the book was covered by paper. After I got it all peeled off I found out that it was an instructors edition. It's the same as the student edition so it's no problem to use. Other than that the book was in excellent condition, with no tears or marks anywhere in the book.   Poor quality - Avoid this teapot!

  The quality of this teapot is extremely poor. Very thin metal, problematic handles top and bottom - but the real problem is the supposed "stainless steel". I used this product for less than two weeks before a ring of rust began to appear on the small upper pot.   A perfect holiday read

  As a bit of light entertainment, this one is hard to fault. Well-written and consistently amusing, it's good, quirky fun: very entertaining. A thoroughly modern Aladdin, with a plot that moves along at a good pace. The ditsy earth-mother mom alone is worth the price of entry. Is she really as crazy as she seems, or is it a carefully gauged ruse to throw everyone off-guard? And can Jasper really be trusted? Or will Amber get "snuffed" by the Mob before she has a chance to find out? Good enough to enjoy reading again, but I'm hoping for a sequel! 5/5 K. M.   Great Turkish tea pot - perfect to make tea for two or three

  If you like several cups of tea in the morning - as I do - this kind of double-boiler (Turkish) tea pot is really great, allowing you to have several cups of hot tea while you're making breakfast, or whatever.Aficionados of Turkish tea, put water in the bottom pot to boil, then pour it over the tea in the top pot, but because the bottom pot is larger, there is left over hot water in the bottom pot which acts as a double-boiler keeping the tea in the top hot. Also, Turks make their tea fairly strong, then use water from the bottom pot to water-down the strong tea to suit the taste of the drinker.In case you care to know some of the background - in Turkey they used to drink coffee (Turkish coffee), but the famous Turkish leader "Ataturk," as a means of improving Turkish self-sufficiency, pushed Turkey away from coffee which had to be imported toward tea which could be grown locally.   The Text is Excellent.

  I have taught with several of the major readers on the market: Samovar and Porter's, Nakayama and Martin, and others. This text has the most well written readings and contains articles on many seminal issues, context (Hall), time (Hall), etc. This text has the LEAST blatantly fluff filled articles intended only to titillate and pander to students. Additionally, if you review some of the other texts, you will see that they often have poorly referenced articles and the work is less than scholarly. It is possible to write a chapter for a reader such as this and support your content with support and references. The articles here are interesting, well written, well referenced, and more-grounded in theory and research than a lot of the competition. I recommend it highly. MLK 5/5 Michael L.   I think that Larry Samovar is one fo the greatest writers of communication studies. Anyone who has ever expereinced problems communcating with different individuals should check this book out.It is really great.Also by Nikayama any additions are wonderfull books. It helped me alot.   I got this for my parents to replace their discolored Turkish teapot they brought back from Istanbul. Theirs was exceptional quality, very heavy gauge metal, and fine workmanship. This one works fine, but it is flimsy sheet metal compared to the original. The price was probably 50% less than their original teapot. This was one of the few available at the time on Amazon.
